Similar to the Harvest Moon games, this forum implements a somewhat real-time system. This thread just describes how it will work and some rules as to what you can and can't do.
It should be noted that your first post should be in whichever neighborhood you would like to live in. The options for starting housing can be found here
Also, be sure to watch the news feeder at the top of the website homepage for the daily and weekly weather reports, the shopping channel's featured items, and a reminder for any up-and-coming events. This will be our equivalent to the Harvest Moon games' television.
1. Under your character storage you should place at least one thread that shows how much money you have, the items in your inventory, the items in your cabinet, any recipes you know, the items in your refrigerator, and the furniture you own. Modify this as you receive and lose items. We admins will monitor it to make sure you aren't cheating.
Every character starts with the following items / furnishings:
2. Liquid time is NOT allowed, meaning that your character CANNOT be in different places at the same time. THIS DOES NOT mean that you can only have one thread going at once. Say you post your character at their home and in the post you say that it's 7:00 am, and you post your character harvesting your crops. This post was made on Wednesday in REAL-WORLD time. This means that in that thread, it will be Wednesday, no matter how long the thread lasts. People can keep posting in the thread for a week and it will remain Wednesday in the thread, unless the creator specifies a change in the day.
However, time will pass in the thread. Every couple posts a person makes they should try to specify what time their character is doing whatever it is they're doing. The REAL-WORLD time does not matter. It can be 8:00am in the real-world, but I can post my character doing something at 11 at night.
3. Several events occur on a specific day in real-world time, such as villager's birthdays, weddings, festivals, and others. If you want your character to do something regarding this event, you have to make a post ON THE DAY THE EVENT OCCURS IN REAL-WORLD TIME. So say you want to give Wilson Gregorson a gift for his birthday, August 28th. You need to make a post on August 28th in the real world for it to be allowed. However, even after it's been a week, it will still remain his birthday in that thread. If you will be out-of-town or unable to post on that day, send me a message ahead of time and I will make an exception for you.
4. When it's necessary for time to pass for certain things to occur, such as crops to grow or animals to give birth, you need to wait for the specified amount of time in the real-world for it to occur. So say you purchase a bag of turnip seeds and it says it takes 5 days after you plant them for them to grow. Post your character watering them every day for 5 days in the real world (all in one thread, if you wish), or simply make a post one day after you plant them saying your character watered them every day for the next 5 days. Then, after it's been 5 days, you can post your character harvesting them.
5. To determine what quality and of how many animal products or crops you receive when harvesting them, you need to specify how many of the item you are harvesting. For example,
On day 1 you purchase three bags of turnip seeds. Each bag covers three squares, meaning that one bag will create three turnip plants. You post your character tilling nine feet of soil, then planting all the turnip seeds, then him watering them all for the next 5 days. On the day you harvest them, you will receive nine turnips, since you earlier specified you planted nine turnip plants.
Or say you own three female cows. Each day you post your character milking all three. Since you specified you milked all the cows, you will receive three jugs of milk. The quality of any item you obtain will be specified by myself or another admin once you post yourself harvesting it to insure it's fair.
6. Your character only has so much stamina, so after you make a post with your character doing a tiring activity such as tilling soil, chopping wood, or even carrying heavy stones, I or another admin will specify what percentage of your daily stamina you used. Once all 100% is used, your character can do no more. Attempt using over 100% and your character will feint.
7. The way you post and how you post will affect the outcomes of many situations in the game. If you do a better job at role-playing and making the experience realistic, your rewards will be greater. A few examples would be
-Posting your character watering your plants every individual day in real-world time rather than just making a blanket post at the beginning saying you watered them every day for the next few days will present you with better quality crops.
-Posting your character going to bed once you are finished posting for one day will restore them 100% stamina the next day, rather than just waiting until the next day in real-world time to post, giving them only 85% of their stamina.
-Posting your character on the streets moving from one place to another may have special events come by such as seeing a villager walking down the street to talk to, or seeing an item, as specified by myself or another admin.
8. When entering an area, you MAY post which villagers you see in the area around you, so long as it is a place it says they visit in their character biography. This makes it easier than myself posting who they see.
9. When talking with a villager, you only post what your character says and what their actions are. The villager is controlled by an admin or moderator.
10. When scavenging around an area attempting to find items around you, you must post your character looking for items, as well as them walking around the area. I or another admin will then post any items you find. The more descriptive your posts (such as saying what you see, what your character is thinking, etc.) will reap better rewards.
11. I suggest you save any items you intend to sell until the end of the day before shipping them, just to make it easier on me, and so you have less posts to make. After posting all the items in your inventory you wish to sell being placed in the storage bin, I or another admin will state how much total money you made and you can add it to your inventory.
12. I want cooking to be realistic, versus the games, so you don't need to have a recipe in order to cook something. Although, if an NPC or another player tells you a recipe to something, you can write it in your storage space. This way other people can also see whatever interesting recipes you've created.
Creating your own recipes should state what the dish is called and what ingredients you need for it. Ingredients can only be food items available in the Harvest Moon games, or specified elsewhere in the role-play.
If there is any dispute or questions regarding these rules, please message me.
